I added a new section where to upload my articles. I’d like to have them in English (and in more languages other than the original one) but, so far, I’ll have to be happy just having them here.

Worth it to anyone? :P

John Daly posts a link to the Report on study commissioned by the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) for the Regional Infrastructure Integration in South America Initiative (IIRSA).

My comment:

Well, I cannot read right now the 483 page document but, acording to John’s abstract I find no mention to Education in this ICT plan.

It is true there’s a place for content and services, but only this aimed to e-Government.

So, what about other kind of content and services? what about content transmission? knowledge transmission?

Next Thursday, march 11th, I will be at Expoelearning Europe 2004. The Congress is three days long (10th to 12th) but as two colleagues are speaking one on Wednesday and another one on Friday, I’ll only attend Thursday’s sessions, all of them a monographic about e-Learning and Free Software.

I am really interested in Free Software e-Learning solutions, as I think it is a good option for non-profits to run e-Learning platforms at a reasonable cost and be able to implement e-Learning programmes for underdeveloped countries or for their own organization.

There’re other solutions, of course, as you can see, for example, in my previous post ;)

Africa Learning Channel, at First Voice International is a good example on what I call “content and service driven ICT”.

You have here a (good) graphic explanation (PDF, 56Kb). In fact it is quite simple: digitalize content and upload it so it can be accessible to much more places than by using usual broadcasting means.

Nothing new under the sun? Maybe. But content was not there and now it is. And better: digitalized content is so specifically thought for educational purposes and so specifically thought for the target it wants to reach that I don’t doubt it is having a very deep impact (as facts and figures seem to show).

I really love these experiences :)
