I’ve been trying to do some installing during lunchtime, but I had some trouble with Alex’s style switcher, so I upgraded to v1.0.1, which is what everybody’s saying to do all around.
I’m quite sure the PHP error I get has nothing to do with my previous WP version, but I upgraded anyway.
16:02, quite late for lunch, even in Spain. Time to quickly pick something to eat and go to my arabic classes.
Man, what a day… :PP

Alex King has organized a WordPress CSS Style Competition with prizes for 3 first places and linking to all others.
I though I could contribute a little bit so I’m donating $7 for third place. I know that ain’t a lot of money, but I don’t believe anyone would be in it just for the money but for fun.
I’d like to thank Alex, Matt and all other developpers for gifting us WordPress.
BTW, I hope paypal worked properly and Alex got my 7 bucks ;)

Well, hum, er… a week since last post. Quite a lot of work, no time to connect from home, dissappearing modem drivers and no connection possible during weekend… :((
Just time to fix some styles that were making my bookmarks look as hell since last update to WordPress 1.0 (I’ve been told it’s time to update to 1.0.1…) and reorganize them to make them more readable and understandable (why are they there, why should one go and look into them, etc.)
I have plenty to be done: 3 articles at Linia Vall

Well, it’s been quite easy.
and done.
Now it’s time to customize – once again :( – home page, CSS and some other layouts such as admin and so.
Anyway, thanks to WordPress team for such a thing!

Since last Google pagerank update this page has reached pagerank 5, which has quite amazed me:
- I don’t have lots of visits – actually, I have few visits
- I don’t think I’m being linked by more than a couple of friends and a bunch of web spiders
So, how did I get to pagerank 5!?
The only reasons I find are:
- There’s not really many people around blogging on ICT4D such as e-learning, e-volunteering, intranets and knowledge management, an so.
- I try and not write about plenty of things but just the previous subjects – there’s some exceptions, as this post ;)
- I’ve been (luckily) spotted at the Development Gateway, a site with a quite high pagerank (8)
Now that I’m using PowerPhlogger to manage my site visits/logs I see funny things such as being listed #2 in Google searching the string “kinds of freedom”, which should be coped by GNU/Linux pages.
I like to see people bumping into my page searching for “opensource ware” or “opensource lms” but it’s more surprising to find me through “mit opencourse”. The most surprising yet came last Wednesday: somebody got here through “opencourseware berklee”: fun, Berklee itself did not appear in none of the 40 results listed by Google.
So, what’s going on out there with Google? :O

I’ve enhanced my blog so the navigator can customize color and font size.
This is done through a new set of CSS files where I defined a green pattern (in fact, the original one), a blue pattern and a big sized font pattern. I’m proud of if but not glad, as green layout and blue layout look a little bit different and I still have to found where the error is. Expectedly, they neither look the same way in Internet Explorer or in Mozilla :(
The big fonts layout is not even a beta version, but I’d rather have it uploaded than remaining inaccessible (I actually am, but feel less guilty about it ;)
The CSS change is done through some javascript I borrowed from tintachina, which was original by Paul Sowden at A List Apart. Thanks to both of them for sharing their knowledge – hope I can help back sometime.
