Abstract:

Thos paper examines the role of libraries in bridging the digital divide. The paper starts by defining the concept “digital divide” then describe factors that contribute to the digital divide. It also discusses the digital divide in South Africa and the initiatives in bridging this divide in South Africa. It then identifies some of the initiatives by the government in bridging the digital divide in South Africa. It concludes by providing the possible solutions in bridging the digital divide.
