Trabajar en red supone mucho más que el uso intensivo de las herramientas que nos proporciona Internet, mucho más que compartir información y abrir nuevos canales de comunicación, aunque trabajar en la Red puede llegar a ser una condición sine qua non. Se impone un cambio en la arquitectura de la organización basado en la gestión del conocimiento, el aplanamiento de jerarquías y descentralización de responsabilidades y tomas de decisión. En este contexto, el papel de la organización es el de tejer la red para que sus nodos – contenedores de conocimiento – puedan interrelacionarse unos con otros, tengan acceso a datos e información y, en última instancia, sean capaces de difundir y transmitir el conocimiento acumulado al resto de la red. Los voluntarios virtuales y el e-learning pueden ser dos pilares sobre los que una organización de acción social sea capaz de dar un salto cualitativo en su gestión interna hacia el trabajo en red y en la Red.

Networking means much more than intensive use of certain tools that the Internet brings us, much more than information sharing or new communication channels establishing, though working in the Net might not be a discardable option in order to reach a fair networking. It’s time for new organization architecture based on knowledge management, flat hierarchy and responsibility and take of decisions decentralization. In this framework, the role of the organization is becoming the weaver of the network so its nodes – knowledge containers – can interrelate with each other, access data and information and, last but not least, disseminate and transfer knowledge within the rest of the network. E-volunteers and e-learning can prove to be solid bases in which the organization can rely on in order to carry on a qualitative leap in the internal management towards networking and working in the Net.
