He's doing a thesis on ICT4D:

"My thesis will be focusing on the use of ICT in the so-called developing countries, as a means of overcoming the challenges faced by poor communities. The impact of ICT on a rural community in South Africa will be studied and will be related to theories of globalisation. The object of relating this to a global perspective is to analyse socio-technical and socio-cultural aspects of introducing ICT in an indigenous society, where there is little or no prior knowledge of such technologies. The thesis will also be discussing current approaches to overcoming the "Digital Divide", which in itself forms an important key term in the present development debate. This and other terms, emerging from the ICT-developing aid field will be discussed and related to the obtained research results."
